The Election Screw-up

As angry and shredded as I am by the events of this week, I do firmly believe that the office staff and election committee acted impartially, ethically, and as efficiently as possible at every step. The balloting company we hired messed up, caught their mistake, and corrected it. There was no conspiracy or manipulation.

Sometimes the universe just fucks with people.

Sometimes the universe does.

And we don't know why, but we can go on, and do good.

You will always be loved!

Agreed. However, if one wants to try to figure it out, sometimes some pressure is necessary in the correct place. In order that as much of the details about how the snafu happened, was noticed, was "rectified", etc., I would suggest sending in your own challenge to the election results. While the membership at large is an aggrieved party, IMO, and I have sent in my own dispute (both to the results of the Secretary race and the results of the full election, in fact; though I don't expect the actual end-results to change), you and Cary are most certainly the most aggrieved parties of all going from elected to not in a matter of three days.

I don't join in in the conspiracy theories that abound, but I do want as much pressure applied as possible to get as full an accounting as possible of every step in this messed up process. I don't see how the membership can have any confidence in the election result without exhaustive details. And, frankly, in-person reports at the ABM (complete w/ Q&A session from members present) from the relevant people from the election house and the auditor -- not filtered by anyone -- will go a very long way to alleviating any misgivings.
